“After four accidents in one week, the Chamonix mayor’s office has banned wingsuit flying from Le Brévent and l’Aiguille du Midi lift stations.

Because of the potential for conflict with paragliders, the move was already being considered by the Chamonix mairie. The Brévent lift station is the most popular takeoff in the valley during the summer months with paraglider pilots taking advantage of the easy access to the thermals that rise up the south face of the peak. This airspace in this same vertical face is directly in the path of wingsuit pilots who round the blind corner to access the couloirs below.”
