In case you were unaware, recently Chamonix and the Compagnie Du Mont Blanc renegotiated their contracts. For almost a century, the Compagnie Du Mont Blanc, or some form of it, have been operating the lifts in Chamonix and restaurants on the hill. This contract was due to end in 2018 but Chamonix and the Major have decided that this is too long to wait for the new investments the valley needs so badly. Let’s hope this means that Chamonix will start to see some of the modern features that other resorts around the World have become accustom to. The investment list currently includes; replacing the access lift at le Tour and replacing the Plan Joran chair lift in Grand Montets.
This means that the job of operating the lifts in the Chamonix valley is now up for grabs, you will need about €165 million to be in with a chance though. Compagnie Du Mont Blanc are still in contention and will continue to operate the Midi and Montenvers train, but there are opportunities for foreign investors to get involved also.
